SHARE HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMS

Save Heritage and Rehabilitate the Environment is a local NGO. Its operations takes different forms, ranging from rehabilitating our damaged environment resuscitating our cultural values as well as embarking on humanitarian assistance in collaboration with NGO’s and other partners.

                        WET FEEDING

SHARE’s involvement in humanitarian actions dates back in 1996 when there was need to assist over 2000 vulnerable malnourished women and children in the Dwarzark community. In collaboration with A.C.F. We started off with a wet-feeding programme in 1996 to 1997 when ACF with drew from the programme. SHARE continued the programme with WFP until it was rudely interrupted by the rebel invasion in January 6, 1998.

                         SHELTERS

Shortly after the restoration of president Kabba’s government in March 1998 and considering the massive destruction done on the eastern part of the city. SHARE, CARE and FHADA in April to November 1999 implemented the KISAP (Kissy Shelter Assistance Project) . This project saw these agencies undertaking shelter reconstruction Assistance to 1000 family Header benefiting from shelter materials, non-food items and Food items as well.

 

            THE GBONKOLENKEKN  PROGRAM

Between November 1999 and April 2000 SHARE and her partners had been very active in the Gbonkolenken Chiefdom in an extensive humanitarian drive in which beneficiaries received food and non-food items and shelter materials.

 

                 RESETTLEMENT PROJECT

In April 2000 SHARE, CARE and FHADA are implementing the P.R.P. (Pilot Resettlement Project). Project in the MONGERE and BAUYA sections of Kongbora Chiefdom in the Moyamba District and the MONGERE REKEFULLA Sections of Yoni Chiefdom in the Tonkolili District. This project is assisting 1000 beneficiaries for shelter reconstruction and receive items such as CI Sheets, Nails, Cement, planks/boards. Haps and staples, tower bolts, hinges and Non-Food items as well as food items. Also, 5000 beneficiaries received Non-Food items over the past 4 (four) months in these areas.

                                 BOOKS

Beginning June this year, SHARE has been able to alleviate the book famine in the country by donations  of text books to libraries and institutions of learning through the courtesies of the  American group called "BOOKS FOR AFRICA". Beneficiaries include:

Share has also slated some Primary and Secondary Schools to benefit from this package before the commencement of next academic year

                     FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Since  April this year, SHARE has been engaged in food distribution   exercise at the Amputee and War Wounded Camp and  Displaced Camp at the national workshop.

                            MICRO-CREDIT

Five (5) of our C.B.O. affiliates are currently benefiting from a micro-credit scheme SHARE is implementing with SAPA. Other group also benefit from loans in the form of bail of second-hand cloths.

    UNITED  AND FOCUSED FOR PROGRESS

Our humanitarian actions remains a reality as we are currently engaged together with other agencies in handling the recent flow of displaced persons from the Makeni-Magburaka axis to the Mile 91 area.
